Modern art in my own backyard

I live in Texas, so saying something is in Texas is not necessarily in my backyard. In fact Texas is larger then some countries so when you first read something is in Texas you get excited until you find out it’s 11 hours away by car.

I’m not a native Texan so I’ve never heard of Marfa, TX, nor the thriving modern art community in this middle-of-nowhere town of 2,500. So seeing this:

intrigued me…

More photos of this modern art installation and some links to Marfa, TX and Ballroom Marfa.

Amtrak goes to Alpine, TX only 26 miles away - 20 hours on a train, $134 for 2 tickets…

Sorry about that, things like that happen when my fingers move faster then my brain…

Have you been to Marfa? It’s now on my radar for places to visit soon.

I’m a west Texas native and love the big bend area, but HATE that they put that eyesore right in middle of the beautiful landscape…can anything natural reminded untouched?
