Apple: Black is the new White
Not that you haven’t heard enough about yesterday’s Macworld Keynote…
Apple released two intel powered macs, the iMac and a revised powerbook now called the Macbook Pro. Most of the recent Apple products have been shot on a black background instead of the traditional white they’ve been using for a couple years now. I really like the look of the products shot on black. It’s more difficult for the photographer - lighting is more important, but it looks really cool!
Check out the photos of the new Macbook Pro.

I also like the on-black photography change but I must say the product shot on the Apple.com homepage is quite dull. The specular lighting and odd angle leave the MacBook Pro looking an old-school grey.
Love the Apple photographs.
But now I’m left to wonder what will happen to all that software I’ve invested in when I purchase the new Mac book, or soon to come desktop machines.
Patrick - most of it will still work without a problem, thanks to Rosetta.
Some of the ‘Pro’ software can be upgraded for a ‘minimal fee’.
Some software that’s highly timing critical may run better with a Universal version - we’ll just have to wait for individual manufacturers to update for Intel.
Indeed, Rosetta and the new Macs will change a lot in aswell the looks as in the code of the Mac. The design & photography is state of the art @ Apple.(as usual) The revolution of the Intel chips in the Macs will do the trick for me in the future, to switch towards the Mac!
