Hello Moto

Friday, January 27th, 2006

Motorola has some great photos of phones with complementing models (or is it the other way around?). Some obviously 80s inspired (I here fischerspooner playing in the background) they definitely have a impact - specially when filling the browser on a stark white background like they do here.
Getty Images also has a similar style for […]

Anthropologie = Great Photography

Tuesday, January 17th, 2006

I’m always impressed with the Anthropologie catalog. Sure the stores are a designers dream and if they had men’s clothing I would shop no place else (until my bank account would quickly dry up) - but whoever is shooting and art directing the catalogs is doing a wonderful job.
The photos set a mood - […]

Real Transparency

Wednesday, January 4th, 2006

VW has some great photos of the Phaeton assembly plant in Dresden. Not only is the factory itself transparent (wall to wall glass), but by showing the production facility of this high end VW it it’s entirety you understand the care, thought and design that goes into each car.
Now if I could just find that […]

Thinking about Tennessee?

Wednesday, December 28th, 2005

tnvacation.com has to be one of the most well designed sites I’ve seen in a long time. It effectively uses: illustration, photography, animation, design, usability and content all in one site. Where most sites get by with one or two of these Tennessee Vacation does them all well.
Sprinkled throughout the site are photos to support […]

Gilbert Garcin

Tuesday, November 29th, 2005

I came across this site for photographer Gilbert Garcin. His photos look like they are straight out of the 1930’s Surrealism movement - but they are recent from 1993 to today. Salvador Dali would be proud.

Old Meets Hip in Prague

Friday, November 18th, 2005

I really like this header image on Stop in Prague. The photos are nice, but the way they are integrated into the header makes this old city (intentionality in black and white) look 500 years younger.
You can really add some life to “standard tourist imagery” by using the photos in a unique way.
Ready to take […]

Moody Madonna

Tuesday, October 18th, 2005

Tuesday always brings the iTunes music store email to my inbox. This week they are pushing a pre-order for Madonna. While not a huge fan of Madonna, this is a great photo to set the mood for the new album. I have not heard a single song, but by this photo I know it will […]
