It’s all about you

Thursday, April 27th, 2006

This site is not in English so I’m not really 100% sure what’s going on, but I like how they have this guy’s photo (is it his site?) on every page. It’s oversized and in black & white and brings a stark contrast to the large amounts of whitespace. Each page has a […]

More than Retouching

Thursday, April 6th, 2006

Taylor James photographic retouchers has some amazing advertising photography. But what makes the website for Taylor James truly interesting are the a couple of step-by-step case studies that show the process. I’d say it more photo creating then photo retouching!

Gas Mask Photography

Wednesday, February 1st, 2006

No, not war photography - something a little less dangerous.
Not that the two normally go together, but The Regulars make it work. A creative idea, very well executed - a photoblog of nothing but a mystery man in a gas mask (”A replica Russian gas mask” per the site) in different costumes.
This is […]

Hello Moto

Friday, January 27th, 2006

Motorola has some great photos of phones with complementing models (or is it the other way around?). Some obviously 80s inspired (I here fischerspooner playing in the background) they definitely have a impact - specially when filling the browser on a stark white background like they do here.
Getty Images also has a similar style for […]

Anthropologie = Great Photography

Tuesday, January 17th, 2006

I’m always impressed with the Anthropologie catalog. Sure the stores are a designers dream and if they had men’s clothing I would shop no place else (until my bank account would quickly dry up) - but whoever is shooting and art directing the catalogs is doing a wonderful job.
The photos set a mood - […]

Apple: Black is the new White

Wednesday, January 11th, 2006

Not that you haven’t heard enough about yesterday’s Macworld Keynote…
Apple released two intel powered macs, the iMac and a revised powerbook now called the Macbook Pro. Most of the recent Apple products have been shot on a black background instead of the traditional white they’ve been using for a couple years now. I really […]

Thinking about Tennessee?

Wednesday, December 28th, 2005

tnvacation.com has to be one of the most well designed sites I’ve seen in a long time. It effectively uses: illustration, photography, animation, design, usability and content all in one site. Where most sites get by with one or two of these Tennessee Vacation does them all well.
Sprinkled throughout the site are photos to support […]

Monday, December 5th, 2005

I’m not a big Golf fan, but this better then average product photography caught my eye. Flames? for a Golf club? This must be for the extreme Golfer…

Old Meets Hip in Prague

Friday, November 18th, 2005

I really like this header image on Stop in Prague. The photos are nice, but the way they are integrated into the header makes this old city (intentionality in black and white) look 500 years younger.
You can really add some life to “standard tourist imagery” by using the photos in a unique way.
Ready to take […]
