DSLR for moviemaking?

Thursday, September 22nd, 2005

Tim Burton’s latest stop motion masterpiece (sure I can call it that without seeing it!) Corpse Bride was “filmed” with a Canon EOS-1D Mark II - a high end DSLR 8.2 megapixel camera.

Editors Guild magazine has a behind the scenes article talking about the technology behind the movie.

Quote:
The Canon EOS-1D Mark II, which uses a […]

Blog Photography

Friday, September 23rd, 2005

Adding photos to your blog can really enhance your content. Think of your local newspaper without photos - not as interesting…
Some bloggers have great content and try to keep it simple (like my co-worker Garrett) - But adding a photo, even if unnecessary can be a great finishing touch.
Two examples:
One:
David Seah’s post The […]

Food plus Surrealism equals

Monday, September 26th, 2005

Delta Tango Bravo has a link to a photo gallery by French photographers Pierre Javalle and Akiko Ida.
The photos are one part food photography, two parts surrealism.

I know many people are against the somewhat “experimental” navigation they’ve chosen (using Flash), but I had no problems navigating. In fact I like the use of Flash in […]

Call me a fool, a fine fool

Wednesday, September 28th, 2005

I’ve decided to be apart of Paul’s Fine Fool Community and write for I Like Cameras. The Fine Fools Community is a experiment to see if he can take a group of blogs from zero to sixty for a upcoming book he’s writing.
I’m sure his sites will get quite a bit of traffic, so writing […]

Flicker User Spotlight: phitar

Wednesday, September 28th, 2005

Every once in awhile you come across a photo on Flickr where you think “this must be a scan out of National Geographic”. With phitar, they all look that way. One of the best collection of photos i’ve seen on Flickr.

Modern art in my own backyard

Saturday, October 8th, 2005

I live in Texas, so saying something is in Texas is not necessarily in my backyard. In fact Texas is larger then some countries so when you first read something is in Texas you get excited until you find out it’s 11 hours away by car.
I’m not a native Texan so I’ve never heard of […]

Scandinavian Designer Wooden Toys

Monday, October 17th, 2005

Scandinavians know how to design, they also appear to know how to take great photos of their products as you can see on the site: playsam.com.
Something that i’ve always found difficult to photograph are very smooth, reflective objects. Getting the light just right, keeping your reflection out the photo and fingerprints are just […]

Moody Madonna

Tuesday, October 18th, 2005

Tuesday always brings the iTunes music store email to my inbox. This week they are pushing a pre-order for Madonna. While not a huge fan of Madonna, this is a great photo to set the mood for the new album. I have not heard a single song, but by this photo I know it will […]

Some creative photography combined with a interesting Flash interface going on over at Carlos Marcelo Photography. Almost too much Flash for my Powerbook to handle…

Show Yourself

Sunday, November 13th, 2005

I don’t really understand what this site is about, but I like the fact I see the writer upfront. Why is it so hard to find photos of the people “behind the blogs“? I know we’re not all fashion models - but adding a photo of yourself adds some realism, trust and friendliness to a […]
